Willow Beach Flash Flood

Besides the wind, another integral element that shapes the Mohave Desert is water. Ten minutes before this picture was taken, this wash was a torrent of water and rocks. Here flood waters recede into the night following a torrential downpour in October 2006. Somehow, my field housing and vehicle (left in photo) were not washed away.
